A fast food meal every once in awhile is not harmful, but a diet consisting of fast food regularly causes one’s physical health to decrease significantly. The CBSNews.com Staff states that â€Å"the all-American meal is a hamburger, fries, and a Coke or a shake.† These foods are some of the worst for the human body. People do not know just how high their intake of carbohydrates, sugar, trans and saturated fats, sodium, and calories is when consuming these foods. Carbohydrates are in almost all kinds of fast foods, and not the complex, whole-wheat, fiber- rich carbohydrates that one should desire in their body. When the digestive system is breaking down the overload of fast food carbohydrates, blood sugar in the body increases because the†¦show more content†¦A little bit of sugar will not hurt one’s body, but the excessive amounts in fast food are dangerous to a human’s health. Trans and saturated fat are most commonly found in fried foods and are very unhealthy for the body. A double whopper with cheese, a medium fry, and an apple pie contain more saturated and trans-fat than an adult should eat in two days. The types of fat found in these foods increase the bad cholesterol, lower the good cholesterol, clog arteries, and increase the risk of heart disease and strokes in humans. Though one does need to eat fats daily, trans and saturated fats are not the types of fat one should be consuming. A diet high in sodium can have many negative impacts on the human body. A high intake of sodium can lead to water retention, which is what causes bloating. Bloating is very common after eating fast food. Sodium causes a negative effect on the outside of your body, as well as the inside. Sodium increases blood pressure and puts pressure on the heart and cardiovascular system. In fact, â€Å"[t]he U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention report a direct link between sodium intake and negative effects on blood pressure, and note tha t Americans consume most of their sodium in processed and restaurant foods† (Clarke).
